The California Solar Initiative offers residential, commercial and non-profit entities a monetary incentive to install solar on a production-based calculation. The initiative, which took effect in January 2007, is funded with a $3.2 billion pool derived from assessments on ratepayers’ bills in the PG&E, SCE and SDG&E territories. Although scheduled to last through 2015, the program allotment is reaching the last steps of available funding. As of this writing, residential rebates are still available and can be used in conjunction with the federal tax credit.
