Solar Panel Mounting | Building to last

Proper solar panel mounting and racking enables the best energy output for the optimum amount of years. Solar panel mountings such as solar shingles are critical in guarding your solar investment against extreme weather and other hazards. Clary Solar uses all aluminum racking and stainless steel 316 or above hardware for solar panel mounting as opposed to galvanized steel which will corrode over time. Unforeseen rust and corrosion can play havoc on a system’s longevity unless the best racking is planned for in advance.

Clary Solar uses Sunpower racking systems for roof-mounted installations which come as part of the Sunpower Smart-Pac. For other solar panels we favor Schletter racking mounts and rails. Schletter is a German company specialized in solar panel mounting and with U.S. headquarters in Tucson, AZ. Mounting is a major part of every rooftop installation simply because a bad job of racking can mean a roof leak. Here are other considerations we make on each project:

• We maintain a 3- to 6-inch clearance under the solar panels that look integrated with the roof while still providing sufficient airflow essential for good panel performance
• We understand that all metals must “give” on the roof, that is, expand and contract with the rise in temperature
• Lags are low profile solar mounts for easy water flow when raining. Although lags are self-sealing, we take several steps to ensure watertight seals
• We use TTI flashings rather than flashings with rubber necks as UV exposure make the rubber crack over time incurring leakage
